Holi is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India but the north Indians are a lot more crazy about it as the soutn Indians it seems. Luckily in Kalpakkam are quite a few pepople from all over India and they organised a Holi festival with some Cultural programme and the traditional "color play" and party. In north Indian cities this would be going on everywhere on the roads, here the arranged for some space where everybody willing to get some colors rubbed onto the face could join. So even if this was only a faint echo of what would go on in a north Indian city I enjoyed the day very much -- and had to scrub for three days to get rid of all colors. The pink proved especially tough this year.
Since the festival envolved a lot of dancing I tried to capture some of it by animated gif pictures, you'll see them already on this index page. Download times might be somewhat larger for these, so keep patient.
