To Chandigarh I was going for a conference (Solid States Physics Symposium) and it was a very different place indeed. For one: it was cold. Far noeth as India is concerned, already close to the Himalayas, it was cold as soon as the sun was out of sight. The city is completely planed on a board, rectangular and no street stalls changing the picture. The population is also rather low copmared to other cities, and this is even the capital of two northern states: Punjab and Hariana. The rock garden is definitely a sight, the government building too. Originally I wanted to see some mountains (Simla), but then I ended up in Amritsa again. It still is a fascinating place.
