Calcutta

I was in Calcutta for a 3 day conference and didn't have much time to see around the city. What I could see from the Taxi windows and train is definitely a more dirty and "Indian" city then Chennai. Chennai is dirty because of all the building, broken roads,... Calcutta is old, somewhat grimy and has a charm Chennai can never match. The Institute is rather far out of the city but one afternoon I take off again and see the city part around Victoria memorial and the westernised shopping areas just north of it.

On my last day I'm going for the Jain temples and from there walk down an old road right through the center of the city. Its a quite nice atmosphere even when some fellows on the road immediately keep me from taking that photo of the little corner shop.
